Hillary, Brian and their daughter, Abigail, made for wonderful clients and reminded me why I love being a family photographer in Virginia so much! Hillary’s mom had purchased a gift certificate for this session and gave it to her when their youngest was born. Since little Abigail was born during the pandemic the family didn’t get a chance to capture her earliest moments. So they redeemed that certificate to catch up on family photos now that Abigail is pushing two!
Hillary and Brian are both friends to my husband Curt, we attended their wedding some years before. This session gave us a great opportunity to catch up with them and meet little Abigail for the first time! Hillary told us that Abigail was in the pre-“terrible twos” stage. That kiddo’s personality really came out during the session, so we were on the move quite a bit to keep up!
Abigail showed no interest in sitting or standing still at all, not even with her parents or on the blanket. Hillary seemed happy with the lifestyle, on-the-move, type pictures that we were able to get instead. If they’re happy, so am I! She loved the pictures we got of Abigail picking up sticks off the ground and running around the park!
Abigail gave us a few tears when we tried to get her to do something she didn’t like – so basically any kind of sitting or standing still. Fortunately we quickly redirected from standing to Abigail using her energy! Abigail showed us the most smiles while doing her favorite thing: swinging.
Perhaps this wasn’t the most “picture perfect” photoshoot with everyone standing smiling at the camera, but it made for a very fun and realistic shoot and we managed to get a lot of good photos! I loved how Hillary and Abigail had on matching pink outfits! And even though there was an overcast sky, it never rained! And it made taking pictures super easy because the sun wasn’t shining in everyone’s eyes or casting weird shaped shadows from the trees across the family.
What topped of the session and made my job the easiest is how they were all so comfortable in front of the camera! Overall, everything turned out so well and I’m so glad I was able to finally capture these much anticipated photos for Hillary and Brian of their little family made up of them and Abigail – hands down the most energetic and vibrant little girl they love so much! Thank you Buckless family for allowing me to capture these special moments for your family!
